New President at Annual General Meeting
The Cycling Australia AGM was held in Melbourne at the time of the Track World Cup and Awards dinner. The meeting elected a new President for Cycling Australia. Melbourne barrister, Klaus Mueller has taken over the Chair of the Board for the next three year term. Klaus was formerly a Vice-President on the Board of CA and a President of CycleSport Victoria. We all wish him well for the many challenges that lay ahead.
Also elected to the Board was Peter Tomlinson a Hospital Scientist and Laboratory Manager from Bowral, NSW. Peter has a long history of involvement in the sport and is one of Australia’s leading internationally accredited commissaires.
Outgoing President Mike Victor, was acknowledged for his service over the past decade which saw the Federation go through a tremendous period of growth. Fortunately, Australian cycling will retain Mike’s services through his ongoing involvement with the Oceania Confederation, the Australian Commonwealth Games Association and the Melbourne 2010 Road World Championships.
The Board was pleased to present a report to the AGM reflecting a very successful year. Membership increased again by over 10%, a satisfying financial surplus was returned and our athletes recorded a very successful year on the International stage.

On-line Membership Promotion
We again remind that membership is being processed for the 2010 racing season and as we stated in the previous edition of E-Cycle, central to improving our membership services is to increase the use of on-line facilities for renewing and new memberships. This cuts down both the labour intensity factor and time taken in delivering memberships as well as minimising risk of error in database information.
To promote and encourage members to use on-line facilities for renewal we have launched a fantastic ‘money-can’t-buy’ experience at the 2010 Road World Championships in Geelong for one lucky member who renews on line for 2010. The prize consists of:
- Return economy air travel for two adults from the winner's closest Australian capital city to Melbourne departing Monday 27 September 2010 and returning Monday 4 October 2010;
- Seven nights accommodation, twin share, at the Mercure Hotel, Cnr Myers and Gheringghap Streets, Geelong, Victoria, 3220; from Monday 27 September 2010 to Monday 4 October 2010. Accommodation includes bed and breakfast, only.
- VIP hospitality at the event on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October 2010
- A lap of the 2010 UCI Road Cycling World Championships course in Geelong during competition
- A Melbourne 2010 supporters pack including a signed jersey from a current Australian cyclist
- An official World championships program
All members who join or renew on-line only before 31 March 2010, will automatically be entered into the draw for this prize. Terms and Conditions are available on the CA website.

First impressions are lasting impressions. As we experience growth in membership it is important that we make new members feel welcome into club and team environments.
The Australian Sports Commission has developed “Ten tips to promote inclusion into your sporting club” which has great ideas on creating and developing positive experiences. Please click here to read this document.
Please take the time to say 'thanks'
“Thanks” to the many volunteers and officials who provide their time and expertise to help make cycling events at club, state, national and international levels a safe, fair and fun sport. Sure some of them lose their patience and yell at competitors some times but we all have the one thing in common, the enjoyment of cycling
