From the CEO

What a great start to 2010. The Santos Tour Down Under lit up the cycling world with a sensational race to kick off the international ProTour season.

Early season Australian Championships saw some outstanding performances in road, track and mountain bike competition. The track in particular was notable for world record times by junior Dale Parker and Para-cyclist Sue Powell. Jack Bobridge also amazed when he became the second fastest man in history over 4km - the fastest under the current bike standards.

More than 100 U15 and U17 riders from around Australia will contest the Junior Track Championships at Melbourne’s DISC velodrome from 18-20 March. Results will be posted after each session at cycling.org.au.

UCI Track Championships2010 UCI Track World Championships
The 'Cyclones' for the 2010 UCI Track World Championships will be announced on Friday and the team will fly out to Denmark next week. The Championships are being staged in Copenhagen from 24 to 28 March. SBS will screen highlights on 18 April (check local guides) but keep an eye on news and the cyclingcentral website during the Championships for daily videos. A daily summary will also be posted on the CA website. Send a message of support to the team via Cycling Australia.

COACHING

twitterFirst Aid as a Pre-requisite for Coaches
From 1 January 2010, a First Aid qualification is now mandatory for all new coaches who attend a coach training program, at all levels, across all disciplines. Existing accredited coaches will have until 1 January 2011 to acquire a First Aid qualification.
