e-Cycle November Edition

Dear Supporter,

Hang on to your handlebars as 2011 sprints for the finish line! There is plenty of action on its way that will keep you right on the edge of your saddle.

The UCI Track Cycling World Cup Series kicked off in Astana, Kazakhstan over the weekend and Australia enjoyed a successful start to their campaign with three gold, three silver and one bronze medal. The World Cup will be raced over four rounds leading into the 2012 UCI Track World Championships where the Cyclones are hoping for a full house of supporters when they take on the world at home in Melbourne.

Our next generation of track stars were in action for the second round of the inaugural National Junior Track Series. Lara Batkin (St George), Jack Edwards (Greater Sydney), Cam Scott (Wagga Wagga) and Ruby Roseman-Gannon (Brunswick) maintained their advantage from round one despite some great performances from all involved.

Anna Meares has joined the Australian Institute of Sport’s ‘Best of the Best’ Hall of Fame. Meares joins Stuart O'Grady and Shane Kelly as the cycling representatives on the elite list. In other accolades, Cadel Evans has been named one of four finalists in the Victorian Australian of the Year Awards.

The 2011 National Road Series has wrapped up after another stellar year of tough competition. Canberra's Nathan Haas and Tasmanian Grace Sulzberger claimed individual overall series honours. In the men's teams classification Genesys Wealth Advisers topped the table for the second year in a row whilst Team Jayco VIS held onto to claim the women's team title. Visit the NRS page for a full list of rankings.

Have a great month on and off the bike and make sure you visit cycling.org.au or follow our social media conversation to stay up to date with all the news.
