Team Jayco Skins powers generation next
Jayco Corporation and Skins have joined forces to back Australia's next generation of cycling talent.
Team Jayco Skins is registered as a UCI Continental Team in the Oceania Region and continues the tradition of excellence of Cycling Australia’s High Performance Program.
The team integrates the current Cycling Australia / Australian Institute of Sport U23 road development program, with the talent of Australia’s track endurance riders. The team will compete in Australia and internationally in events in Asia, Europe and North America.
Cycling Australia’s National Performance Director, Shayne Bannan, says he is looking forward to the new opportunities that will be created.
“Australia has a proud history of producing talented cyclists who have succeeded at the very top level, said Bannan. “This has been achieved through the identification and development of young riders with the support of the Australian Institute of Sport, State Institutes and Academies of Sport and local coaches.
“Our High Performance Programs have been key to the success of Australian cycling as demonstrated by the calibre of our graduates who include Michael Rogers, Matthew Lloyd, Cameron Meyer, Wes Sulzberger and more recently Jack Bobridge and Leigh Howard.
“The support of Jayco and Skins will help us step up to the next level to ensure we remain one of the world’s leading cycling nations.
“This support is crucial in our bid for success at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, World Championships and the Olympic Games in London in 2012,” Bannan said.
“Jayco continues to be proud of our association with Cycling Australia and this country’s talented cyclists,” said Andrew Ryan, Marketing Director Jayco Corporation. “Sport deserves the support of business in helping to prepare our young athletes for international success.”
Team Jayco Skins will be the first cycling team to wear the new Skins C400 race clothing and the 400 series, A400 (Active) and RY400 (Recovery), compression.
“We are excited to be working with Cycling Australia to promote our local talent on the world stage,” said Benjamin Fitzmaurice, Sports Director – Cycling at Skins.
“The new Skins C400 race clothing and 400 series compression brings together technical advances in dynamic compression, new yarns, body mapping, anatomical active clothing styles and applies that to a complete clothing system for racing and recovery,” he said. “Skins has been in the cycling market for some time with our compression products in both the active and recovery ranges.
“We will continue to develop these garments through the rigours of racing and the demands of the riders for the most technically advanced race suits and recovery garments.”
Team Jayco Skins will also benefit from the support of sponsors Mapei, Shimano, Vittoria, Giro, Bianchi, Aussie Butt Cream and Malaysia Airlines.
