Rhodes and Menzies claim wins in US
South Australian Alexis Rhodes has soloed to victory in the final criterium stage of the four day Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas.
Rhodes, riding for the Vera Bradley Foundation team, finished one second ahead of Katheryn Mattis with Rhodes' team mate Alison Powers third on the Fayetteville circuit.
Rhodes capitalised on the tough course that included 12 turns by launching a solo attack that put her clear of the rest of the field in the closing laps.
In the men's event Tasmanian Karl Menzies (United Healthcare) had to wait several hours before his victory was confirmed by officials who ruled he won ahead of team mate Matthew Crane with Australian Jonathon Cantwell (Fly V Australia) third in a tight finish.
