Membership Categories
Cycling Australia has introduced a new family discount for 2010. This is only available to families of four or more Cycling Australia members living under the one roof. Families are advised to contact their state association to check eligibility and availabilty. Family discounts are only available using manual membership forms through the club.

Racing Licence
Racing Licences are categorised based on age.

Masters Licence
Masters (aged 30 yrs +) also have a choice when taking out a Racing Licence.

Masters Category Licence – enables the rider to enter Masters events and graded racing at club or club-combined level, but restricts the rider from contesting elite championships and national open events.

Elite Racing Licence – permits a Masters rider to enter any racing event including national open and championship events; as well as contesting Masters category events including State and National Masters Championships, in the same year.

Sport Licence
Sport Licences are only offered in one category. They are a non-competitive membership extended to permit participation in timed individual and team-based road events.
This includes events that are timed whereby finishers may be placed in order of finishing time; however, they are not awarded prizes or recognised on the basis of those placings. It does not include fully competitive and/or championship time trials.
Recreational Licence
Recreational membership is offered as Senior (19 years and over), Junior (U19) and Family. It is designed for social riders looking for suitable insurance coverage, as well as being an affordable membership for administrators, coaches, officials and volunteers.
Recreational Licences include Public Liability and limited personal Accident insurance cover for participation in events such as organised recreational rides and formal training activity.
Kidz Licence

Affordable ($10) membership targeting primary school age groups (under the age of 13)

Introduction to cycling and being involved in a club environment

Covers skill based activities and modified competitive activities that are restricted to club level only.
Temporary Licence
Unless otherwise approved by the respective State Association, temporary member permits are restricted to Club events only. State and National Championships are only open to entry by full Racing category members. To find out if an event at this level is open to temporary licence entries, contact your state association.
Temporary membership, and associated insurance cover, applies from the commencement of the specific event or activity until the completion of that event or withdrawal by the participant.

Term of Licence

Racing Licences are issued on a calendar year basis and are valid until 31 December of any year. Members issued with Racing Licences after 1 October 2009 will be valid until 31 December 2010 (ie, they may be valid for up to 15 months)

6-Month Licences are available for racing licences only and are issued between 1 July and 30 September each year at a discounted fee

Sport and Recreation Licences are issued on a rolling renewal basis. Renewal will be due 12 months from the initial date of purchase
The following policy applies to members seeking to upgrade their category during a membership term:
Recreation to Sport
A Recreation category member wishing to upgrade to Sport or Racing category:

Where the member has more than 6 months validity of membership left, they will be credited their full capitation paid as a Recreation member.

Where the member has less than 6 months validity remaining on their membership they will pay the full Sport or Racing capitation.
Recreation or Sport to Racing
A Recreation or Sport category member wishing to upgrade to Racing category:

Where the member has more than 6 months validity of membership left, they will be credited their full capitation paid as a Recreation or Sport member.

Where the member has less than 6 months validity remaining on their membership they will pay the full Racing capitation
